Camper Code of Conduct

Camper Code of Conduct

In consideration of participation in any NLArts Community Programming, legal guardian(s) agree to acknowledge, review, and discuss the following code of conduct with the participant to full comprehension prior to start of any NLArts Community Programming activities or events.

(For Campers) I agree to the following code of conduct:

I will be respectful of my fellow peers and teachers by being kind and encouraging with my words and actions.

I will follow instructions and guidelines of all NLArts staff so that my friends and I get the most fun out of our time.

I will support the safety of my peers by keeping my body to myself, not threatening, or causing physical harm. This includes possession of dangerous instruments, even if they are make-believe.

I will treat shared spaces as precious, such as the camp ground, project materials, parks, and any field trip locations by not littering, vandalizing, stealing, or destroying things that do not belong to me.

When in public spaces, I will be attentive to my surroundings, never wander away from the group, be by myself, or make friends with adult strangers who are not with NLArts.

I understand that if I have been hurt or I am in danger, OR if I witness a peer being hurt or in danger, I will get an NLArts adult immediately.

I will follow NLArts Ground Rules to the best of my ability at camp, and try to use them in my day to day life.

I will follow all procedures & rules, including those that are not listed on this behavior contract, to the best of my ability.

(For Guardians): I understand that NLArts staff may take the following steps if behaviors violate the code of conduct:

:● As challenges to the Code of Conduct occur, private discussions with the camper, teacher, and/or camp directors will take place to understand why such challenges have occurred, how to learn from them, and ways to mitigate continued challenges. A phone call, email, or in-person discussion at pickup with a guardian may occur, with teacher and/or directors discretion.

.● If Code of Conduct challenges pursuits with little co-operation, or if a camper is experiencing extreme symptoms of panic/anxiety,  a phone call, email, or in-person discussion with a guardian will result, detailing the situation, procedures taken to mitigate, and possible parent/teacher/director solutions.

If Code of Conduct challenges pursuits with no co-operation, or in the case where kicking, biting, or other severe physical and harmful behaviors occur, the Director will call the guardians and the child may be given a one-day suspension from the program with no refund.

If behavior challenges continue to grow and/or harmful physical actions consecutively persist despite mitigations, the result may lead to immediate expulsion from the program without refund.

Upon signing this behavior contract, guardians(s) agree that they have reviewed the Code of Conduct with campers, agree to the guidelines set forth, and will work with NLArts staff to abide by the disciplinary actions issued if this contract is not followed.
