Dream Big Slowly Farm, LLC Liability Release and Waiver
A. ACKNOWLEDGMENT OF RISK: I knowingly, willingly, and voluntarily acknowledge the inherent risks associated with equestrian sports and know that horseback riding and related equestrian activities are inherently dangerous, and that participation in any equestrian event involves risks and dangers including, without limitation, the potential for serious bodily injury (including broken bones, head or neck injuries), sickness and disease (including communicable diseases), trauma, pain & suffering, permanent disability, paralysis and death; loss of or damage to personal property (including my mount and equipment) arising out of the unpredictable behavior of horses; exposure to extreme conditions and circumstances; accidents involving other participants, staff, volunteers or spectators; contact or collision with other participants and horses, natural or manmade objects; adverse weather conditions; facilities issues and premises conditions; failure of protective equipment (including helmets); inadequate safety measures; participants of varying skill levels; situations beyond the immediate control of management and owner; and other undefined, not readily foreseeable and presently unknown risks and dangers (“Risks”).
B. ASSUMPTION OF RISK: I understand that the aforementioned Risks may be caused in whole or in part or result directly or indirectly from the negligence of my own actions or inactions, the actions or inactions of others, or the negligent acts or omissions of the Released Parties defined below, and I hereby voluntarily and knowingly assume all such Risks and responsibility for any damages, liabilities, losses, or expenses that I incur as a result of my participation. I also agree to be responsible for any injury or damage caused by me, my horse, my employees, my coach, trainer, or associates, or contractors under my direction and control. I understand I must also wear an approved helmet while riding at all times.
C. REQUEST PERMISSION: I request permission to participate in cross-country riding and training or any other equestrian activity at Dream Big Slowly Farm, LLC (owned by Heidi L. Grimm, Douglas F. Powell and Carl E. Grimm) including as a rider, spectator, owner, or auditor. I agree I am participating in these activities voluntarily, fully aware that working with and around horses involves inherent Risk, as specified above, whether in schooling or competition, mounted or dismounted. I further agree that by my participating I expressly assume any and all risk of injury or loss, including death of both myself and my equine partner (or other pets), and agree to indemnify and hold Dream Big Slowly Farm, LLC, Heidi L. Grimm, Douglas F. Powell, Carl E. Grimm, their employees and agents harmless from and against any and all claims suffered during or in connection with these activities, whether or not such claim, injury, or loss resulted, directly or indirectly, from the negligent acts or omissions of Dream Big Slowly Farm, LLC, Heidi L. Grimm, Douglas F. Powell, or their agents.
D. WAIVER AND RELEASE OF LIABILITY, HOLD HARMLESS AND INDEMNITY: In conjunction with my participation in any event at Dream Big Slowly Farm, I hereby release, waive and covenant not to sue, and further agree to indemnify, defend and hold harmless the following parties: Dream Big Slowly Farm, LLC, Heidi L. Grimm, Carl E. Grimm and Douglas F. Powell

Under North Carolina Law, an equine activity sponsor or equine professional is NOT liable for an injury to or the death of a participant in equine activities resulting exclusively from the inherent risks of equine activities.
